Our carnival club was formed in 1991 and based in Sturminster Newton. Each year we build a carnival cart and take it round two carnival circuits, and also other independent carnivals in our area. Our cart is approximately 100ft long, 11ft wide and 16ft high and boasts a whopping 5000 lamps! Our first carnival each year takes place at Sturminster Newton in August and then every Saturday until the end of October. We then have another eight carnivals in November in the space of two weeks. The biggest carnival we participate in is at Bridgwater, which is believed to be the largest illuminated carnival in the world boasting crowds of over 100 000 people!
